Syrian opposition getting help from Turkey

rebelsNEWSDESK, — In an interview with ANF, Lieutenant Ibrahim Mecbur, who deflected Syrian Army and joined the opposition on 12 June, stated that they receive support from Turkey.

According to ANF Mecbur remarked that they had first formed the “Free Officers’ Movement” which was followed by the constitution of “Syrian Free Army” together with soldiers without seniority.

Mecbur, the leader of “Syrian Free Army” which started armed struggle against the Bashar Al-Assad’s regime in Syria, remarked that they received support from Turkey.

Including the organization’s prominent leaders Colonel Riyad Al-Assad and Ibrahim Mecbur, leaders of the “Syrian Free Army” militia organization, which mainly composes of government opponents and soldiers who fled from the Syrian army, are living at the camps set up in Hatay city near the border with Syria.

Mecbur notes that they are dominantly effective in villages near the border with Turkey as well as in the region of Cisir el-Sagur. Clashes with Syrian soldiers have been lived in these areas, notify Mecbur and indicate that 35 soldiers fled from the army and joined their side most recently.

Emphasizing that they target security forces, Mecbur says that; “We took up arms against the regime to defend the people and ensure their security. We are soldiers, not politicians. We will do whatever is needed for the benefit of Syrian people.”

Mecbur claims that they have relations with Syrian opposition, underlining that they however don’t receive orders from anyone. “We object to a military intervention from outside but we will not refuse political and humanitarian assistance supports” remarks Mecbur and says the followings concerning the support they receive from turkey; “We got into contact with Turkish authorities but this was only related with humanitarian assistance. We approve Turkey’s attitude towards the opposition.”

Mecbur emphasizes that they have connections with officers who are still on duty in Syrian army and continues as follows; “Besides the plenty of heavy ammunition we bear, we are also getting more and more ammunition and equipage every passing day. Separately, we dispossess the regime of its arms by means of the ambushes we lay. We are a growing power.”
