QENDIL, — Following the Iranian offensives on the Qendil Mountains and the embarrassing defeat of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) at the hands of Kurdish guerrillas, Iran called upon PJAK to declare a ceasefire.
To open the way for a peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue in Iran and to avoid further bloodshed, PJAK (Free Life Party of Kurdistan) declared a unilateral ceasefire.
Not long after the cessation of violence, rumours of direct negotiation between PJAK and Iran appeared in the media.
Sherzad Kemangir (Kelhor) a senior member of PJAK rejected the allegation of direct negotiation with Iran and said they won’t take the IRGC as an interlocutor.
In an interview with the Farsi section of ROJ News Agency, Sherzad Kemangir stated that direct negotiation has not taken place between them and Iran in any form. He strongly dismissed the news as rumours.
Mr Kemangir also empathised on a peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue; “we have repeatedly expressed our readiness for dialogue and negotiation; nevertheless, even if the condition would be ripe for negotiation, we would not take the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps as interlocutor”, Kemangir concluded.
