BITLIS, — A new mass-grave was found in Betlis in which 33 Kurdish guerrillas of PKK (Kurdistan Worker Party) are believed to have been buried. The evidences suggest that they were killed by chemical weapons.
Bitlis is one of those Kurdish cities, where 35 mass graves with 485 bodies had already been found.
An eye witness who wanted to remain anonymous for security reason said that: “In 1993, a group of PKK members and high rank commanders came to the countryside of Bitlis for a meeting. Village guards [local collaborators] recognized them and called soldiers to make operation. During the operation, soldiers used chemical weapons during PKK members’ meeting and killed them. The bodies were thrown in a pit without covering them. Then the bodies were covered during a road construction.”
The Chair of Human Rights Association (IHD) in Bitlis Branch, Hasan Ceylan confirmed this testimony and said they are going to have legal attempt to investigate and open this area
