Kurdish language school opens in Aleppo, Syria

2011-Oct-2-AleppoALEPPO, West Kurdistan, — The Kurdish political party Democratic Unity Party – PYD in Syria announced the opening of a new institute for teaching the Kurdish language, in Alsheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood in Aleppo.

This institution, which is the second to be established by the PYD in Aleppo, is the first to publicly teach the Kurdish language. The crowd of over one thousand men and women, shouted, sang and danced with national songs; they brought photos of Abdullah Ocalan, PYD flags, and signs demanding the recognition of Kurds in the Constitution and of the importance of the Kurdish language.

The courses are to be started on 3 October 2011, they will be free, and will be based on the curriculum of Kurdish Institutes in Turkey.
