Karayilan: The state kills civilians and then blames us

Murat_Karayila2sMEDYA REGIONS, — The president of Kurdistan Democratic Confederation (KCK) Murat Karayilan evaluated the killing of civilians in the clash in Batman on 26 September.

On that evening a young mother and her two children (one still unborn) were killed, while a builder was allegedly executed by police. The killings were – the police said – committed by PKK guerrillas.

But all evidences, including video footage of that night points out to an entirely different story. The police first targeted civilians then engaged in a fight with the Kurdish guerrillas of the PKK.

Having killed 4 civilians virtually at point blank, the police then tried to cover up the killings by blaming the guerrillas. But times and places do not support the police version, and indeed point the finger to it.

“The state in Batman murdered our people but denied doing this and tried to put the blame on us. Just like they sprayed bullets on 12-year-old Ugur Kaymaz, they again killed civilians and linked the killings to a clash which broke out two hours later. They claim that the family was caught between two fires and killed by terrorists,” said Karayilan.

For Karayilan these words depict a scenario “made up by the governor and security director of Batman, in conjunction with Ankara, for the purpose of hushing the event up which was committed by the state. Despite the fact that even the Prime Minister knew this truth; a psychological war has been launched against the Kurdish people by means of all press and media organs who intended to give a bad name to the Kurdish people and the Kurdish politics through an unfair accusation and a provocative manner against our movement. By killing six Kurdish people there, the state has once again exhibited its murder side. This is a police terror that can’t be covered up. They kill Kurds and they put the blame on Kurds, targeting the Kurdish movement and people with the aim of exposing them. So much falsification, lie and inversion of truths could only be described with the character of the Turkish imperialism.”

Asked to evaluate the threatening content of the Prime Minister’s speech against your movement and all voters of the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Karayilan said that “the Prime Minister aims to eliminate not only our movement but also the base and population of the Kurdish Freedom Movement. The Prime Minister clearly stated that the segments by both threatening the BDP with PKK and regarding all the voters of the BDP as responsible for the PKK. The Prime Minister is now waging a battle of will with the Kurdish people and it therefore implements isolation by violating all kinds of laws with respect to the Leadership of this people, it tries to apply intense pressure on the freedom movement of this people through attacks from both air and land and it wants to obtain a result by means of intense police repression on masses, torture and arrest threat. This people, their leadership, freedom movement and politics shall never take steps backward in the face of the repression and violence of the AKP. Everybody should see that the Prime Minister has publicly launched a battle against a society. It will no doubt be unsatisfying if the circles supporting democracy and peace address the problems without considering this attitude of the Prime Minister”.

Karayilan added that “the Prime Minister is performing heroism by saying; “I suffer great hardship”. Is this true? He says that mother shall not cry and he also tries to hurt Kurdish mothers in their hearts by launching operations one after another”.
