BATMAN, — A German delegation consisting of 15 people including members of parliament, historians and university students went to Batman to investigate the deadly clash that occurred on September 27. They blamed the Turkish state for the death of the civilians.
“Turkish soldiers are everywhere in Batman. The state is forcing Kurdish people to take up arms. A construction worker was killed by the state,” Michaem Knopp the head of delegation explained
Mr Knopp also said that the Turkish state has already lost the war against the PKK (Kurdistan Worker Party). An indication of this is the state oppression that Kurds are currently living under. He also stated that Turkish authorities threatened them and told them to cease their investigation.
The clash occurred in a construction site in Batman led to the deaths of Mizgin Doru (32); her unborn son; Sultan, her three-year-old daughter; a construction worker; a police officer; and two PKK members.
Family members of the victims said that the Turkish media is blaming the deaths on the PKK, although there are eyewitnesses who say otherwise.
Talat Doru, Mizgin Doru’s husband, was also wounded in the clash that killed his wife and child. He said that it was the police who killed the civilians and he called on the Treasury Secretary Mehmet Şimşek and the Batman governor for help. They said that they would investigate the event. Talat Doru Family also stated that their car was hit by police.
