BINGOL, — Turkish police officers shot a 30-year-old Kurdish woman who didn’t respond to the police warning to stop because she didn’t understand Turkish. The woman was seriously wounded on the chest and taken to Bingol State Hospital.
According to our local correspondents, 30-year-old Gulistan Tosun, married with seven children, was shot by Turkish police for not responding to the warning because she didn’t know Turkish.
Reporting on the incident Turkish media tried disturbingly to absolve the police, saying that the mother of seven could have been a “suicide bomber” or could have suffered from “mental problems” and therefore represented a threat for the police.
