AMED, Kurdish Capital, — Arresting of Kurdish civil activist has taken a sharp increase in North Kurdistan. Co-Chairperson of Peace and Democratic Party (BDP) Selahedin Demirtash reacted to the waves of arrest and restated that Kurds will continue their struggle.
Attending the “Kurdistan Conference in Turkey”, Demirtash answered questions from journalists. Drawing attention to the detention operation against the BDP in Sirnak, Demirtash remarked that these operations against Kurds have never been stopped since 2009. He said:
“They are carrying out raids against the BDP under the name of KCK case. BDP is the people; it consists of the Kurdish people. Turkey is the only example of this situation where a government declares its people as terrorist and conduct operations against them. Will you arrest all of the Kurdish people? You don’t have enough prisons for that.” Demirtash added that the Kurdish people will continue to struggle and appear at streets young and old alike.”
