Hunger strike in Meriwan prison

1208_2MERIWAN, — Kurdish political prisoners held in Meriwan Detention staged a hunger strike to protest against torture and humiliation carried out by the prison’s officials.

That was learned that the prisoners had been subjected to intensive torture and taken to the compartment of drug addicts and then taken to Qurwe and Bicar detentions.

According to the local sources, 8 Kurdish political prisoners in Meriwan Detention have been on hunger strike since 23rd July.

Some sources reported that the hunger strike was staged to protest against the Iranian invasion of South Kurdistan, others have reported the ill conditions of the prison as the rationale for the hunger strike.

The Iranian prison officials have assaulted the hunger strikers, tortured them and thrown hot waters on their bodies.

It is reported that after a series of beating, these prisoners were taken to the section of drug addicts and then to Qurwe and Bicar prison.

The names of 5 of these detainees are reported as: Hesen Axter Semer, Siwan Batube, Fershad Kemangir, Mursel Muhemedi, and Abubekir Hijberi.
