IRAN, — Kurdish political prisoner Sherko Mearfi is at imminent risk of execution. He is scheduled to be hanged on 1st May.
Mr Mearfi is 32 year old and was arrested on 2nd October 2008 in the city of Bane on the ground of opposition to the Iranian government. He was sentenced to death in January 2009.
According to the news from East Kurdistan, the Iranian Judiciary has scheduled his execution for 1st May.
To protest against the verdict the human rights activists have called on the public to show discontent and take steps to halt his execution.
