WEST KURDISTAN, — The most active Kurdish political party in West Kurdistan (Syria), called on the Kurds to remember the 12th March Qamişlo Massacre.
Democratic Union Party (PYD) announced their readiness for common struggle and national unity with all segments of society and Kurdish organizations, making a call for the anniversary of the Qamişlo Massacre.
33 Kurds had been massacred in two days on 12th March 2004 as a result of the attacks by the Syrian Security Forces and the chauvinist Arabs on the Kurdish people in Qamişlo.
PYD called on all Kurds to go to cemeteries for the “martyrs”, announcing that the central ceremony will be held in Quduberg Graveyard in Qamişlo.
PYD also called for a five-minute silence and closure of shops on March 12th at 11:00 a.m.
Asking the Syrian state to give up the “subjugation” policy against people, the PYD demanded the arrest, judgment and punishment of the murderers. PYD noted that the state was responsible for all events on March 12th.
