Self-immolation of the Kurds in protest to Ocalan’s abduction

phpThumb_generated_thumbnailjpgNORTH KURDISTAN, — In the 12th anniversary of the illegal and immoral abduction of Kurdish national leader Ocalan in 15th February 1999, two Kurds set fires on their bodies.

A Kurdish 17 year old teenager Mustafa Malchok set fire on his body in Diyarbakir and died on the spot, report said on Tuesday.

Following Mustafa’s self-immolation, a Kurdish political prisoner Murat Aktash who was held in Medyad prison, set fire on his body to protest the crime committed against both Ocalan and the Kurdish people.

According to the reports, the prison official took his body to hospital and after due treatment returned him to his cell.

In support of Murat’s self-immolation, the prisoners of Medyad prison launched a hunger strike.
