HPG urged Turkey to halt military operations in Kurdistan

QENDIL, Kurdistan, — The Kurdish Defence Forces (HPG) urged Turkish Army to strop its military operations in Kurdistan, report said on Wednesday.

The military wings of Kurdistan Worker Party (PKK) claimed that Turkish army bombarded the Defence Regions of Medya, controlled by Kurdish guerrillas 23 times.

HGP said that one guerrilla lost his life as a result of the bombardments.

HPG reiterated that the Kurdish guerrillas adhere to the ceasefire declared by the PKK since 13th August and it urged Turkey to halt military operations.

The bombs also hit some of the villages which are close to the Turkey-Iraq border on November. No villagers were killed or injured in the attacks.

Kurdish guerrillas are in position of ceasefire which was declared by the PKK last August. But Turkish army continues its bombardment of suspected guerrilla positions and military operations against the Kurdish guerrillas.

More than 20 Kurdish guerrillas were killed as a result of Turkish military operations since August.

It should be noted that after 1954, apart from the Korean War in1949-52 and the invasion of Cyprus in 1974, the Turkish Army operations have continued to be exclusively against the Kurds.
