Kurdish defence force assumes responsibility for the Oil pipeline explosion

HPG, Northern Kurdistan–The explosion which was occurred few days ago in Midyat district of Mardin, HPG claimed responsibility. Rumours were made by the Turkish authorities that two Turkish citizens were killed as a result of the explosion. HPG, however, made statements in regards of the explosion and the death of two people. HPG considered the Turkish authorities statements in regards of the death of two people as misleading statements, and stated that the death of two people was flatly separate incident from the explosion. HPG stated it was a result of a car crash on the high way nearby.

However, HPG denied the allegations that the Kurdish guerrillas targeted the civilians and said they had taken all the necessary precautions and stopped the vehicles passing away in order to prevent any civilian causalities. HPG also reported that the guerrillas who carried out the attack were present at time of the explosion and no civilians lost their lives as a result of the explosion.

Regarding the attack on the petrol pipeline HPG also stated that the attack was carried out on 10 August at around 19:00 between Midyat district of Mardin and Idil district of Sirnak provinces.

further more to that HPG stated that the attack took place on 10 August at around 16:30 on the Midyat-Idil highway was carried out against a car carrying a number of gendarmerie collaborators who left the Kivaxe gendarmerie station shortly before the explosion. HPG also said it was a warning attack for those who are collaborating with the Turkish security forces
