BDP asked PKK and Turkish Army to declare bilateral ceasefire.

AMED, Northern Kurdistan– Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) called on the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) and the Turkish army for bilateral ceasefire. BDP chairman Selahattin Demirtaj who spoke at a press conference in Diyarbakir, after the BDP Central Administrative Committee meeting, said Turkish army and PKK must declare a bilateral ceasefire in order to prove the path for a democratic and peaceful solution of the Kurdish issue in Northern Kurdistan.

BDP Chief Committee also called all political powers and NGO’s to take responsibility in the peace making process, and make unlimited efforts to bring about peace and democracy.

Mr Demirtaj continued further by stating that the governing AK Party must stop operations against BDP officials and Kurdish activists.

it is worse to notice that the Kurdistan Worker Party (PKK) have declared unilateral ceasefire several times since 1999, but Turkish respond to the PKK ceasefire was an increase of military operation, detention of democratically elected Kurdish MPs and Councilors, arrest of the Kurdish children under the terror law, and further to that in respond to the PKKs ceasefire Turkey insisted on its discriminatory policies against Kurdish nation, which is in itself a breach of Human Rights Convention, European Convention of Human Rights, and various international laws in regards of Cultural, language, self determination and independency.

It is also worse mentioning that the International community and European Union have not performed their constitutional obligations to bring about peace and democracy in Northern Kurdistan.
