Kurdish peace delegates arrested

Diyarbakir- Northern Kurdistan: Ten Kurdish peace delegates of Peace and Democratic Solution Group (BDCG) have been arrested by Diyarbakir 5th and 4th High Criminal Court. Firstly 3 of them, Mustafa Ayhan, Nurettin Turgut and Hüseyin Ipek were arrested by Diyarbakir 5th High Criminal Court and 7 others have been arrested by Diyarbakir 4th High Criminal Court.

On the other hand a search warrant for 3 of trailed members of the Peace and Democratic Solution Group (BDCG) has been released by court. Those three were not at the court.

The protest demonstrations all over Turkey have been begun immediately after arrest decisions of the courts.

 

First hearing of 17 members of the BDCG had begun on early hours in Diyarbakir. The BDCG members, who had come back to Turkey from Qendil Mountains and Maxmur Refugee Camp to show their faith to peace and contribute the peace process, were being trailed for their speeches.

Those prosecuted members of BDCG are mostly former guerrilla. There were massive protests and support activities continuing in front of Diyarbakir Court Building witnessed a waiting of hundreds of people all night. Many lawyers from Diyarbakir Bar Association had also attended the trials as well as many peace activists from all over Turkey.
