KURDISTAN, — Turkish military offensives in Kurdistan resulted in the death of 12 Kurdish guerrillas between Friday and Saturday in the area of Uludere in Sirnak province.
To protest against such a murder, three days of mourning are to take place in various Kurdish cities from today on. Shops will not open; festivals and election meetings will be called off to allow people to protest and mourn.
The People’s Initiative of Sirnak called on all Kurds to claim the ownership of the bodies of the 12 guerrillas and stand firm behind the martyrs who lost their lives for their freedom.
Thousands of Kurds walked to the border with the Kurdish Federal Region to reclaim the bodies of the guerrillas.
Speaking in Diyarbakir today BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Co-Chair Filiz Kocali said: “This is a slaughter, a war crime. We will carry our anger to the streets”.
More than 10 thousand people have organized a march in Mardin with the slogan “Şehîd namirin”— the martyrs won’t die — and staged a sit-in action to protest against such a war crime.
The Turkish army operation is reported to continue expanding on the region; while a large number of military units and special operation teams are reported to have crossed the border of Federal Kurdistan Region at early morning hours.
40 GUERRILLAS DIED SINCE MARCH
Turkish military state has killed 40 Kurdish guerrillas since March and they might even kill more, for the massacre of the Kurds are so easy for the occupying powers of Kurdistan and the regional colonialism is delighted with such bloodshed. But would such bloodshed frighten the freedom-seeking Kurds to withdraw from their demands?
