53% Urmiye Lake dehydrated

urmiye_lakeURMIYE, East Kurdistan, — The chief of staff of Urmiye’s Environment Protection stated that 53% of Urmiye Lake has dehydrated and it’s salt density has reached 400 gram.

According to Mehr News Agency, the sea level of Lake has reduced 40 centimetres from the last year. Due to the critical condition the Lake is struggling with the number of Artimas have also reduced by 40 in comparison to few years ago.

Hasan Abbasi believed that the high level of dehydration of the Urmiye Lake is due to significant fall of inflowing water, the climate change, and the lack of rational use of natural sources of underground water.
