KMMK:
The Kurdistan Human Rights Association (KMMK) e.V. congratulates the women of the world, especially the women of Kurdistan, on Women’s Day on March 8, and we respect the struggle of women to achieve equality, freedom and equal rights.
Violations of women’s rights, injustice and inequality, patriarchal society and anti-feminist traditions have unfortunately continued this year and we have witnessed the violation of women’s rights in the first place by the Islamic Republic of Iran and in the second place by society.
Countless political, civil, and human rights prisoners are currently held in Iranian government prisons. by arresting female civil activists, the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown that it has always continued its anti-feminist policy and is not willing to accept the equal position and rights of this section of society. the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran continue to emphasize discrimination and violations of women’s rights and have made no effort to change or improve the laws.
Apart from this, the women of Kurdistan and Iran have also been targeted by discrimination and oppression under the influence of backward culture and traditions. several women have been killed or committed suicide in the past year.
Despite all the discrimination and oppression against womens, the womens of Kurdistan have been able to be at the forefront of the struggle for freedom in the past year, the widespread activities of women in the social, environmental, and political show that the government policies have not been effective in undermining women, and that women have been able to take effective steps to change their status despite all discrimination.
While congratulating women on Women’s Day, the Kurdistan Human Rights Association calls on the Kurdistan community to work for the freedom and equality of all members of society and try to provide a free society from gender discrimination by continuing their struggles.
