East Kurdistan Defense Units (YRK, Yekîneyên Parastina Rojhilatê Kurdistan) issued a written statement and announced that the colonialist Iranian state continues its attacks on the people and freedom fighters of Rojhelat (East Kurdistan). YRK stated that 4 guerillas were ambushed and massacred between the villages of Axalan and Dîwalan near the Serdeşt region of Mukiryan in Rojhelat as they were on a mission on June 11, 2016.
YRK noted that the Iranian state has been trying to use prostitution, drugs and similar methods to distance Kurdish people from the freedom struggle, and use intimidation and torture tactics to break people’s will for resistance. The party emphasized that Iran’s implementation of such methods increases violence in the region, but the Freedom Movement and Self-Defense Forces favor the resolution of Kurdish people’s problems through dialogue and political means. YRK said: “Despite our sensitive approach and warning, the Iranian state insists on adopting hostile and cowardly position, which forces us to defend our people and ourselves actively. Our people should know that the Iranian state will not yield any results with its cowardly actions and policies, and our march for freedom will continue.”
YRK called upon patriotic people and the families of martyrs to strengthen solidarity and prevent the operation of collaborator traitors in East Kurdistan. YNK also called upon young women and men to join the guerilla ranks for the defense of Kurdish people.
YRK noted that the 4 martyrs Manî, Rêzan, Sîpan, and Fuad were leading figures in the resistance and their sacrifice gives courage to other guerillas. YRK promised to carry the struggle of the four martyrs to success and offered its condolences to the families of the four martyrs.
