Iranian army has launched an operation in Soma area of East (Rojhilat) Kurdistan city of Urmiya. It is reported that Iranian Pasdaran (Revolutionary Guards) infiltrated into guerrilla areas to incite clashes, to which guerrillas responded with warning fire.
People’s Defense Forces Press and Communication Centre (HPG-BIM) reported in a written statement that Iranian troops started an operation in Soma area of Urmiya at 2 pm local time yesterday.
HPG-BIM stated that guerrillas opened warning fire for self-defense after Iranian troops moved towards the guerrilla positions and three times yesterday afternoon.
According to the statement, one Pasdaran fighter of Iranian forces was killed in an inevitable clash in the area from which the revolutionary guards withdrew after the operation remained inconclusive at 16.30.
