Every month a document is published by the title ‘Overview of Human rights situation in Iran’ by a group of Iranian human right activists. Iran does not allow independent human right groups to operate, and the published monthly document cannot reflect the complete situation of human rights in Iran, however it is among most completed ones.
Human right in Iran is systematically violated at a fast pace similar to past according to the report published by the above-mentioned activist group. It also indicates execution is still a method of punishment with reports of several execution cases of under 18 year’s old minors.
Violating rights of religious groups, including violent police attack against Dervishes’ protest in front of attorney, continues detention of Baha’is, as well as converted Christians were among several recorded cases in the report.
A nine years old worker’s injury during work was among most sobering case that has been reported as a sample for violation of child’s right, as well as issue of child labor in the report. Further, the same report discusses corporal punishments of children practiced in schools.
Regardless of broad topics such as mandatory hijab, passing laws on ‘enjoining good’ and acid attack disaster in Isfahan, the report believes Iranian women also witnessed aggressions in cultural areas as well, including prosecution of a female singer in Vahdat Hall and preventing women from playing in a concert in Isfahan.
Large number of labor related events were also reported in month of October. Strikes and protests were held due to not receiving payments to the workers. This month was among tragic month for labor community of Iran as a worker in Rewanser died at work while two other workers lost their lives due to fire in workshop.
Finally, the report also dedicates sections addressing areas such as guilds, genders, and environment along with published document samples. The monthly report of Human rights activist group is a symbolic sign that Iranian government is still putting up efforts in violating human rights.
