The world’s largest open-air prison of the Islamic republic regime

Article

Since the Islamic Republic Regime’s rise to power, the mullah nasty regime has enforced ethnocide policies against Ahwazi Arab nation and other non-Persian nations. In fact, the threat of forced displacement, deportation, expulsion and execution against Ahwazi Arab, Kurds, Turks, Baluchs and Turkmen was permanent.

More than eight million Ahwazi Arab are denied equal rights by the state of Iranian regime under the system of apartheid, a deliberate policy of racial or ethnic segregation. For years and until today, the lack of reaction of the international community concerning the state of human rights in Ahwaz region and other non-Persian regions in the integrity that is called the prison of occupied nations which was built on fire, blood, international conspiracy, has given Iranian regime and his clique a right of life and death over entire communities. Ahwazi Arabs as the same of other non-Persian nations are victimized, stolen and looted because of their ethnicity.

Under the Iranian regime, millions of Ahwazi Arabs have been left to live in deplorable poor conditions which worse than the apartheid system that was adopted against South African people. For changing the demography of Ahwaz region, Iran has been waging silent war against Ahwazi Arab people by constructing exclusive settlements aim as systematic policy of ethnic cleansing within clandestine frame-time. Under these ongoing national atrocities, Ahwazi Arabs have given up hope for having their equal rights along with other four non-Persian nations, Turks, Kurds, Baluchs and Turkmens. There is consensus rooted ideology among Iranian nationalists that non-Persian nations must be oppressed under the pretext of preserving the Iranian sovereignty and integrity of country.

This reactionary ideology has given Iranian regime right of life and death over non-Persian nations whose right are denied and suppressed for years. Being proud of identity is a common feeling among everyone but in Iran it is a national taboo, if non-Persian people claim for their national rights they would be entitled “separatists” as a justification to pave the way for a lethal prosecution by Iranian regime.

It is common policy of Iran that Ahwazi Arab activists are accused of secession and “national security risk” and against territorial integrity of the country. These charges usually carry death penalty or harsh prison sentence by the Iran judicial system.

Seeking the basic human rights for Ahwazi Arabs along with other ethnic minorities within the framework of Iranian regime is considered unlawful even if these legitimate rights are enshrined in Iran constitution like right to education in mother language for ethnic minorities. This shows the double- standard policy of Iranian regimes that is chanting slogans in solidarity with Palestinians while deny the rights of Ahwazi Arabs people.

The Islamic revolution of Iran was welcomed with widespread participation of non-Persian nations for overthrowing the Pahlavi regime hoping to enjoy their national rights but when the non-Persian claimed for their rights from the Islamic republic regime, they were greeted by assassination, execution and banishment and mass forced displacement and finally following repressive policies have been adopted against them:

  • No right of free speech, assembly or movement
  • Arrest and imprisonment without charge or trial
  • Systematic liquidation of non-Persian intellectuals(genocide of intellectual )
  • Torture, forced confession, solitary confinement
  • House searches without warrant, Assassination, stoning, extra-judicial murder
  • No rights for education in mother language(ethnic cleansing along with high illiteracy among non-Persian speakers)
  • Land confiscation for “Constructing settlement” for Persian settlers(changing the demography
  • Particularly in Ahwaz)
  • Diverting water of rivers (Karoon river in Ahwaz) or drying out the marshlands of Ahwaz
  • Unemployment, abject poverty, prevalent addiction among young generation

By these barbaric policies, the non-Persian nations including Ahwazi Arab people have been trapped into the world’s largest open-air prison of the Islamic republic regime. However Ahwazi Arab people are even deprived of having healthy air and access to safe water since it has come to light that the air Ahwazi people breathes is laced with carcinogenic substances and depleted uranium. Air pollution crisis in more than a decade in the region has caused cancer and chronic breathing disorders while the solution is still unclear as the environmental health problems are skyrocketing that are likely threatening the lives of an estimated eight million Ahwazi Arab in the south and south west of Iran. Ahwaz is an Arabic region located in the south and south west of Iran on the eastern coast of the Arabian Gulf from the Strait of Hormuz to the Shatt al-Arab. Ahwaz region is rich with oil, gas and water. However Under the Iranian regime, millions of Ahwazi Arabs have been left to live in deplorable poor conditions which worse than the apartheid system that was adopted against South African people.
