Kurdish national leader Abdullah Öcalan has sent a condolence message for the memorial and burial ceremony of Nelson Mandela, the mythical leader of South Africa which was attended by the tens of thousands people. In Öcalan’s message it is stated: “Mandela for me and Kurdish nation, in all global arenas and mountains is as a pattern for struggling against the sovereignty of tyrants of Kenya and as a great part of our family he will be alive forever, in our hearts.”
Kurdish national leader Abdullah Öcalan who is in prison for 14 years in Imrali, with the collaboration of Ertuğrul Kürkçü the co-chair of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) sent a message for the memorial ceremony of Nelson Mandela.
The text of this message which published in Özgür Gündem newspaper is as follow:
“Today the whole world is crying for Mandela, in his sorrow there will be lots of stories to tell and yet his thoughts from the freedom movement of his legacy will be recited which shows the importance of his existence.
Criminals are falling on their knees and apologizing or as stigma they will remain on the pages of history. Great struggles have arisen against these pervasive oppression. The only thing which sank the whole world by its waves is the tears of subordinates.
Equality and democracy struggles which Mandela were scout of them, become the context of struggle of peoples who put them as basis of their work and spread. Using the language of peace for people like Mandela is infinite because those who placed in the hearts of nations of the world, in context of nations struggles play the role of Prometheus.
Mandela by struggling against the history that was written by the rulers brought the flames of struggle to the homeland of every subordinate. While subordinates were considered terrorist and cruel, Mandela with great understanding and courage become the hope of people. He becomes the source of inspiration and spread his struggles.
The revolution which appeared in South Africa was an impact to all oppressive rulers. Before the conspiracy of Kenya for benefiting from the experiences of Mandela, I intended to travel there. Mandela for me and the Kurdish nation is a great part of our family and forever he will be alive in our heart. He was a shining and illustrative star of the African nations.
Our family should not surrender. Today we are conveying one of our sages. Greetings to all the people of South Africa. All of us will live as free citizens until our death, in dignity and peace, just like Mandela.”
