In recent days, waves of hangings carried out in Iran, especially Ahwaz and Rojhelat (East Kurdistan) that recalled Iran 80s executions. At that time, it was considered arbitrary by the Iranian authorities.

In Nov. 5, 2013 Meriwan people staged a protest rally in response to executing three Kurdish Political prisoners, Hebibulla Gulperipur, Reza Mamedi and Sherko Mearefi ordered by Iran’s Judiciary.

Protesters held banners like “Do not execute Kurdistan, no violence and no hanging” while moving towards the city centre peacefully.

The Regime does not tolerate any protests suppressed by security forces; as a result, they were arrested with some of them being student and civil activists. Wurya Tase and Dana Lencawi are the only activists known at the time, others are unknown.

According to the Iranian Constitution, any protest gathering is considered as a threat to national security and breach of the public order, and whom who participates will be faced with a life sentence, torture and/or death in some cases under Art 286 of the Islamic Penal Code of Iran.

Ali Younesi the former Intelligence Minister also Special Assistant to the President in ethnic and religious minorities’ affairs had expressed regret about the recent executions and arrests in the Eastern region of Kurdistan. He remarked that all government officials are dissatisfied because of these events. Younesi promised to pursue the matter in the most efficient and best way possible. Hasel Dase, the Kurdish reformist representative of Iran’s sixth Parliament quoted Younesi in talks with NNS ROJ Agency.

Although in the last 2 months, some of the political prisoners were released from prison once Rouhani came to power, the Kurdish political prisoners were excluded from the amnesty. Contrary to Mr. Rouhani’s election campaign slogans, discriminatory policies are still systematically implemented by his government and since his government came to power dozens of Kurds have been arrested.

Currently there are 30 Kurdish political prisoners on death row in the regimes prison and they are in eminent risk of being executed. Islamic regime considers the political prisoners as hostages therefore their fate is at the mercy of the authorities and security departments.

According to the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, Iranian executions capitation is more than any other country in the world.

In 2013 More than 420 people have been executed in Iran, and out of the 420, 53 of these executions took place in public.

Based on the 2011 campaign, the Iranian Regime executed six hundred people on that year that based on the plurality of execution in the world was in second place after china with a billion and three hundred million people.
