MAKU, East Kurdistan — 103 years old man named Haci Eli Chilan from Zlka village of Maku city was sentenced for 8 years in prison on the charge of collaborating with PJAK (Free Life Party of Kurdistan).
Despite of his old-aging and decreased in vision as well as poor physical condition he is still kept in prison.
Hac Eli Chilan along with his son Hesen Chilan and two brothers named Mohemmed and Abdullah Omerpur with Said Ahuz were arrested on January 2005 by intelligence forces, said the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran.
According to the same report, the security forces claimed without any evidence that their charges were collaborating with PJAK.
In Xoy Revolution Court, Hac Eli Chilan was sentenced to 8 years in prison for his alleged cooperation with PJAK.
Hesen Chilan and Mohemmed Omerpur were sentenced to 18 years by Maku Court and 11 years by Xoy Court respectively. The total sentences of 29 years.
Abdullah Omerpur was sentenced to 23 years and Said Ahuz to 4 years. All these sentences were upheld by the Appeals Court and the Supreme Court of Iran.
Hac Eli Chilan is 103 years old. Due to his old-aging he is in a very bad condition to the point that he cannot get up. Due to loss of vision he is in needs of immediate treatments.
Despite of doctor’s warning about his critical health and inability to stay in prison and frequent family appeals to Maku Court, the Intelligence Service is adamant in keeping him in prison.
