Views of representatives of political parties about the recent events

A number of Kurdish officials have expressed their views and opinions about the recent events in Derik, the liberation of Girzero village from regime-forces, the control over Ramelan and the latest attacks launched by extremist groups in Serê Kaniyê.

“Hasan Saifuddin” member of the Democratic Progressive Party, regards the recent events as an attempt by the Syrian regime to provoke sectarian sensitivities among the different components of the region. He assured that the peoples of Western Kurdistan are able to manage their areas although the entry of extremist groups would certainly threaten the peace.

The secretary of the Communist Party of Kurdistan “Necmettin Saif Omar” said opposers of the Kurdish issue could not derail the Kurds in their pusuit of their legitimate rights. He said Turkey is trying to enter Western Kurdistan under the name of “Islam”, to prevent the Kurds from achieving any national gains.

“Ali Shemmo” a member of the Democratic Union Party praised the sacrifices of the Peoples Protection Units (YPG).

 

The Political Situation in Western Kurdistan

The Flag of the High Kurdish Council is raised above all centers and Institutions in Ginderes
All institutions, security centers, civil organization and all other NGOs have raised the flag of the High Kurdish.
Council Political analysts and observers saw this action as part of an attempt to unite Kurdish rhetoric and discourse in western Kurdistan , after the national cooperation convention was approved by the two main Kurdish councils “Kurdish national council and the council for people in western Kurdistan”

 

Civil peace and coexistence in Western Kurdistan

Representatives of the Democratic Society Movement Met a delegation of from the Assyrian Democratic Organization
The relations committee of the High Kurdish Council met a delegation from the Assyrian Democratic Organization. The two sides discussed the recent attacks on Serê Kaniyê which has caused the displacement of the inhabitants of the city which has added to the growing number of displaced peoples in Syria.

Supreme Kurdish Committee form a Commission to Negotiate with Syrian National Coalition
The Supreme Kurdish Committee held an expanded meeting to discuss the communication with the Syrian National Coalition regarding the rights of the Kurdish people. The meeting also discussed the issue of the border with Southern Kurdistan.

During the meeting it was agreed that a commisson would be formed to negotiate with the Syrian National Coalition regarding the rights of the Kurdish people and the issue of the Peoples Protection Units and the armed group to stop the fighting in Serê Kaniyê.

The meeting also discussed the issue of the border with Southern Kurdistan and the importance of reaching an agreement that will best benefit civilians and their needs.

 

Situation in Hasaka; Suicide bomber blew himself up near the Security Building

Firat news agency reporter in Hasaka said that a suicide bomber in his fourties blew himself up near the security building in the neighborhood of Alnashwa, the explosion injured three people, two of them were students.

According to eyewitnesses, the suicide bomber warned civilians seconds before blowing himself up.
According to the reporter , Syrian regime forces intensified patrols in the neighborhoods of al-Hasakah after the explosion.

 

Ahmed Suleiman; The Task of Supreme Kurdish Authority is to unify the political stand

A few days ago a group of young men demonstrated in front of the Office of the High Kurdish Council, calling on the Commission to accelerate the activation of specialized Military Commission, and to urgently adress the attacks of armed groups on the city of Serê Kaniyê.

Ahmed Suleiman the spokesman for the Kurdish Supreme Council appreciated the initiative of the young Kurds and said that the main task of the Commission was to unify the Kurdish political situation, and that the dispersion in this regard can lead to catastrophic results on the Kurdish cause in West Kurdistan.

Suleiman also noted that the respect all kurdish people show and their solidarity when taking parts in the funerals of the martyrs who are killed during the fighting against the terrorist groups, are a clear evidence that the kurdish people believe in the role of the Kurdish Council.

Concerning the armed attacks on Serê Kaniyê, Sulaiman said that the main purpose of the millitias entering the city is to set the region components against each other and to threaten the civil peace.

Wounded Syrians are exposed to organ-trafficking in Turkish Hospitals.
Local sources said that wounded Syrians are exposed to organ trafficking by the Turkish government. A number of families assured that they had discovered the stealing of the organs of their wounded family members.

The concerts began in the twenty-seventh of January and will continue until the first of next February, and includes dance concerts, singing concerts and theater.

Europe: Kurdistan Red Crescent launches aid campaign
Kurdistan Red Crescent launched an aid campaign for Western Kurdistan. The campaign begins in the first of next February and include all European countries.
The administration of the Kurdistan Red Crescent said that all institutions and Kurdish associations in Europe expressed its willingness to provide various kinds of support and assistance to ensure the success of this campaign
The Kurdistan Red Crescent has sent in the past year sent 300 000 euros and hundred kilograms of medicine in its aid campaign.
The head of the Kurdistan Red Crescent Dr. Fakhr Goelchen said The Kurdistan Red Crescent cooperates with many humanitarian organizations and NGOs collecting aids foe Western Kurdistan.
Goelshen appealed to health workers to go to western Kurdistan and to assist in the treatment of patients
Dr. Fakhr Goelchen noted that the aid will be sent directly to Western Kurdistan, the distribution will be announced to the public.

 

The attacks on Serê Kaniyê

Europe: Kurdish people are preparing to launch demonstrations condemning the attacks
Kurds continue organizing demonstrations condemning the terrorist attacks on the city of Serê Kaniyê and supporting the resistance of Peoples protection units (YPG).
The Kurdish Cultural Association called on all Kurds living in Europe to demonstrate next Saturday in front of the Norweigian Parliament in the Norwegian capital Oslo.
A call for a sit-in is launched for the same reason in brussel, the protesters are called to gather in front of the European Union Parliament.

Nawaf al-Bashir militants engaged in theft and robbery
According to local sources from the area of Tal tamer, the armed group headed by Asaad al-Bashir’s son Nawaf Ragheb al-Bashir stole a flock of sheep last friday belonging a kurdish farmer named Qassim Hassan Shukri in the city of Tel Tamer.
The same sources said that the Albashir group was accompanied by another Armed group headed by Ahmed Abu Alqos” an arab from Mahimid village from Baggara clan. The two groups seized the herd under threat of violence and later sold the stolen herd sheep in the province of Deir al-Zour.
The citizens have recently reported several robberies and theft and have accused the armed groups of committing it.

Wounded and buildings destroyed during shelling on Sheikh Maksoud
The random fall of a rocket at the western neighborhood of Sheikh Maqsud caused the injury of two women and a child. Witnesses said the shelling was launched from a place where Syrian Regime tanks were stationed.

A reporter of Firat news agency said the rocket hit a big building and caused serious damage.
The wounded who were killed in this incident are “Awad Sabah forty years old , and her daughter Zainab Zeno , three years old “, and another girl whose identity is yet unknown.

Kurdish fighters control a number of insurgent positions
During the last five days Kurdish forces were able to impose its control over many places that had been taken over by armed groups.
According to a statement issued by the Media Center of the Peoples Protection units progress was made yesterday when the control over military and security centers of political and local administration in the city was seized.

The Kurdish forces regained control on the Orthodox Church in the city and stopped an explosive set by the armed groups from going off.

The Peoples Protection Units apprehended a Turkish ambulances, and a French ambulance which raises alot of questions according to a spokesperson of the Peoples Protection Units.
A leader of the Peoples Protection Units said:

“Finding a French ambulance here raises many questions, and may be an indication of the involvement of numerous parties in this attack.
According to the reporter of the Firat news agency, the armed groups used in return mortars and heavy weapons in their attacks. Sources confirmed the killing of two girls during shelling on civil neighborhoods fired from the Turkish side.

Local sources continue to confirm that the Turkish army is supporting the Armed groups with military vehicles.
Sources also revealed that a dozen of dead and wounded have fallen in the ranks of the armed groups. The sources said that a number of these groups have escaped to the Turkish border.
In the meantime, the leadership of Martyr Abed battalion appealed to citizens to avoid touching or approaching the unexploded bombs and urged people to get far away from if they discover any unexploded bombs.

On the fifteenth day of clashes between the Peoples Protection units and the armed groups, some parties tried to mediate to stop the attacks, but the leadership of Peoples Protection Units said in a statement, they would not enter into negotiations with any party, but after the departure of all armed groups from the city. The statement also called committee sent by the Syrian national coalition for ceasfire to negotiate with the Highly Kurdish authority as it represents the Kurdish people in Western Kurdistan.

Launching the First Initiative of Syrian Women in West Kurdistan
Star Women’s Union held in Qamishlo city the first preparatory meeting for the Syrian Women’s Initiative in Western Kurdistan, women from different components attended the meeting and a number of decisions regarding the rights of women and their effective role in the society were taken.

During the meeting, Ilham Ahmed a member of the Coordination office of star Union stressed the need to unify the voice of Syrian women regardless of their race or religion. Ahmed stressed that women rights are often neglected after revolutions are over and mentioned the Egyptian and Tunisian women as an examples. She said in both countries women representation was absent while forming the new constitutions and the women were excluded from acquiring administrative positions and leadership.

The meeting discussed the Syrian situation and the region in general, and women speakers focused on the need to change the current constitution to a civil constitution representing the general community, and to have it do justice to women and give them their full rights
Syrian Helicopter shell Ashrafieh district and cause the deaths of dozens of Kurdish civilians
Clashes erupted on Thursday between the Syrian regime forces and armed groups belonging to the Free Syrian Army in the neighborhood of Ashrafieh, sources said regime forces brought in reinforcements to the place to control the neighborhood.

According to sources, confrontations that took place in Alsabeel neighborhood were expanded to reach Ashrafieh as planes bombed the neighborhood near Akhtal school, which led to crucial injuries of dozens of civilians and the killing of eighteen others, mostly children.

Children and Cancer Patients the most vulnerable categories during the Economic Crisis

People of Western Kurdistan are suffering from the consequences of an economic and humanitarian crisis.

In addition to the lack of food and necessary life supplies, pharmacies lack infant milk and some of the very essential medicines which can in many cases threaten the life of patients when not supplied.
Medical sources in Western Kurdistan say that the life of cancer patients is in considerable danger, as medicines are lacking as a result of the economic crisis and the siege imposed on the region, in addition to the absence of a special hospital for the treatment of cancer patients in the region.

Sources estimate the cases of cancer in western Kurdistan is about 50 percent of the overall ratio in Syria, the reason is likely to be the spread of the oil wells and chemical fertilizers in the region.
