EAST KURDISTAN, — A Kurdish man and resident of Serdeşt (Serdesht), a border town in Eastern Kurdistan was shot dead on suspicion of having smuggled goods by Iranian security forces.

According to Mukrian News Agency on December 23, Rizgar, a Kurdish civilian, was shot dead around Bersive Bridge in Serdeşt by Iranian security forces.

The “systematic killing of Kurds”, especially Kurdish Kolbers and tradesmen in border areas by Iranian security forces was condemned by Ahmed Shaheed, UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in his 2012 report and can be regarded as a crime against humanity.

Recently, the deputy of Mehabad in Iranian parliament said; “Kurdish Kolbers – only for earning their livelihood – have to involve in black market in border areas and they are killed by Iranian security forces. As the result, the women would become widow and children would become orphans. While all the amount of exchanges of goods in border areas by Kolbers is not equivalent to the only one shipment of smuggled goods by corrupt tycoons in private wharfs.”
