Hunger strikers: We end our fast as Ocalan advised

AMED, — Following Ocalan’s call on the hunger strikers to end their fast, Denis Kaya as the spokesperson of the hunger strikers made a press statement remarking they would regard the call of Kurdish national leader as significant and end their campaign.

With the help of BDP Mihemed Ocalan the brother of Abdullah Ocalan had managed to travel to Imrali prison to pay visit to his brother who called on the hunger strikers to end their fast.

“Let’s the hunger strike ends immediately,” said Ocalan to his brother, a call upon which we end our hunger strike in its 68th day, said Denis Kaya as a spokesperson of the PKK and PAJK prisoners.

Denis Kaya remarked that they had launched their non-violent fast in 12 September in a revolutionary spirit. The hunger strike was joined by 10,000 more prisoners on 5 November.

“Our aim was to prevent the measures which rely on violence to deny and kill Kurdish people. Instead of this we intend to promote a solution based on dialogue, democracy and peaceful methods, “said Kaya and continued, “Based on this line of thought we said this is necessary to put our bodies to death.”

At the end of the statement Kaya said, from here we salute the relentless resistance of our people who give us strengthen and morale with their honourful readiness and continuous supporting demonstrations.
