His body was so disfigured I couldn’t recognise him, said father of a slain guerrilla

KELAR, South Kurdistan, — A unit of Kurdish guerrillas of HPG (Peoples’ Defence Forces) had launched an attack on the military compound of Harunan on 14 September.

It was reported that at least 60 Turkish soldiers had been killed while 7 guerrillas also lost their lives in the skirmish. Among the slain guerrillas was Karwan Gabar from Kelar, a Kurdish city in South Kurdistan.

The family of Karwan Gabar travelled to North Kurdistan on 18 September to take his slain body back to his home town in South Kurdistan.

The family of Karwan Gabar could not recognise their son for his body was so badly dismembered by the Turkish soldiers. DNA test was required to find out who was him.

“We travelled to North Kurdistan on 18 September to bring back the body of martyr Karwan, but we could not recognise him… his body was so badly disfigured,” said his lamenting father.

This is not the first time the bodies of Kurdish guerrillas are dismembered, desecrated to humiliated by the Turkish soldiers. Turkish army has been violating all the rules of war along the moral standards in its colonial war in Kurdistan.

In the footage below Turkish soldiers were filmed while dragging on the ground and kicking the bodies of two Kurdish guerrillas who had lost their life in fighting.
