MERIWAN, — A Kurdish political activist from Meriwan city was sentenced to death by Mehabad Revolution Court for his affiliation with a Kurdish political party.
According to Mukrian News Agency a resident of Meriwan city named as Saman Nesim was sentenced to death on the charge of “enmity with God” and affiliation with a Kurdish political party.
Mr Saman Nesim was arrested by the Iranian security forces in the summer of 2012 on the border regions of Urmiye province and is currently held in Mehabad Central Prison, the same source said.
According to International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, 28 Kurdish political prisoners held in Iranian prisons are sentenced to death.
Political activist and critics are arrested in Iran and under the charge of “enmity with God”, are sentenced to either to long-term prison or to execution by hanging.
