IZMIR, Turkey, — Following the shift in guerrillas strategy from “hit and run” to “position and defend the areas” as declared by the PKK’s senior leaders, the clashes begin to spread deep into Turkish territories.
At least one soldier was killed and eight others were wounded in clashes in Foça, in the western province of Izmir on Thursday, the ANF reported.
Clashes reportedly broke out following an explosion during the passage of a military vehicle on the way to Naval Base Command in the early morning.
The wounded soldiers have been taken to Foça State Hospital.
