Kebudwend refused to go hospital handcuffed and chained

Kebudwend-kurekeyTEHRAN, — In 31st day of his hunger strike Mohemmed Sediq Kebudwend refused to go to hospital handcuffed and chained, despite suffering from kidney infection.

The Human Right Organisation of Kurdistan (RMMK) in a statement released today declared Mr. Kebudwend is in his 31st of hunger strike and he is determined to continue.

The medical doctors of the prison’s clinic have warned Kebudwend that his kidneys have been infected and he has to be transferred to hospital as soon as possible but he has refused to go while handcuffed and chained, the RMMK statement said.

Mohemmed Sediq Kebudwend the founder of RMMK and a journalist was arrested on 1 July 2007 and detained in Tehran. Consequently he was handed 11 years sentence for establishing of RMMK and journalism.

While held in prison, he tainted with serious disease such a prostate, kidney infection and heart problems. Despite this, he has been denied medical treatments.

For the last five years he has never been granted a day off prison to spend with his family. Lately his child fell ill and is in hospital (the photo).

After rejection of his request to visit his ailing son, he launched a hunger strike on 26th May to obtain the permission and he is adamant in continuing his strike until he is allowed to visit him.

After 31 days of hunger strike his demand is not being met by the prison officials and he has not visited his ailing child so far.
