SHIRAZ, Iran, — The state run media has reported that eight people were hanged in the Adelabad prison of Shiraz city located at the south of Iran.
The prisoners were executed on Sunday April 15 on the ground of drug dealing and none of them were identified by name.
Each year many people are hanged on various grounds such as political, terrorism, rape, treason, and mostly drug trafficking.
According to IHR’s annual report on execution in 2011 in Iran, more than 80 per cent of those hanged were charged with drug dealing although there was not sufficient evidence available regarding such issue.
This case raises the execution toll for 2012 to 88 people.
