SEQIZ, — Sherko Mearfi a Kurdish political prisoner sentenced to death, launched a hunger strike yesterday 4 April in Seqiz central prison, where he is currently held.
In a phone conversation with Mukrian News Agency, Mearfi said he has staged a hunger strike in objection to his suspended and unknown situation. In a letter he has also notified the prison official of the hunger strike.
One of Sherko fellow prisoners has said that after he launched the strike he was taken to a solitary confinement in Seqiz prison.
Sherko Mearfi from Bane city was arrested three years ago and sentenced to death on the ground of Moharebe, enmity with God, for his involvement in one of the Kurdish political groups.
