IRAN, — The economy of Iran is facing a stagflation not due to the increase in demands, but to the imposed sanctions and also the removal of subsidies legislated by Ahmadinejad’s government.
Above all there is a high rate of unemployment reaching over a half in some areas. Even the employed people do not have a standard way of life and majority of the Iranian population are living below the living standards.
Ali Dehqan Kia a member of the leading committee of Tehran Council, stated that the earnings for a family to have an adequate living needs to be at least 1 million and a half of Iranian Toman (1,500,000) per month, but workers make 3 hundred and 90 thousand Toman (39,000).
The prices of bread, chicken, meat and fuel has increased by more than 50% and the price of telephone has gone up to 16%.
