AMED, Kurdish Capital, — Turkish police attacked thousands of Kurds who were trying to join Newroz celebrations in Amed city.
Thousands of Kurds were poured on the streets of Amed city today to join the biggest celebration of the week, but they came under vicious attack from police using tearing gas and baton charging.
Among the people stopped by police were BDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş and many BDP deputies.
It is understood that police are preventing people coming from outside the city to reach Amed and the clashes are reported to continue.
