NORTH KURDISTAN, — Following simultaneous raids by the Turkish police many Kurds were taken into custody. Mehmet Baysala permanent member of DTK (Democratic Society Congress) was also arrested in Kaypinar district of Amed city.
According to the local reporters 20 Kurds were also arrested on 28 February in Cizire district of Sirnex (Sirnak). These raids are carried out in the context of so-called KCK operation, referring to Kurdistan’s Communities Union.
Ferhat Encu, brother of Serhat Encu who was among 34 victims of the slaughter made by Turkish army bombardment in Roboski village on 28 December 2011, was also detained in Cele district today.
Encu family lost 11 members in the Roboski massacre where 34 civilians, including 17 children, died as a result of Turkish warplanes air strikes.
While the members of the family have gone through serious psychological problems since the event, Faruk Encu (19) and Ozcan Encu has been jailed in Sirnex Closed Prison on the claim that they were in a group attacking the governor of Cele Naif Yavuz during his visit to the village, a day after the massacre.
