NORTH KURDISTAN, — The BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Şirnak deputy Faysal Sariyildiz held in Merdin E Tip prison has announced that he will launch an indefinite hunger strike to protest against isolation imposed on Kurdish national leader Abdullah Ocalan.
Sariyildiz’s decision to launch a hunger strike comes after Selma Irmak; another Kurdish MP jailed in Amed E Tip prison has been on hunger strike since 15 February.
Irmak’s indefinite hunger strike is also against the capture and isolation of Ocalan who has been held in a solitary confinement for the last 13 years.
On the meantime BDP and Labour, Democracy and Freedom Bloc deputies will stage a two-days hunger strike beginning on 20 February 20 to support the jailed deputy Selma Irmak.
