Long March heading towards Basel

Ocalan_marchNEWSDESK, — The Long March for Freedom and national rights for the Kurdish people which is organized by KON-KURD (Confederation of Kurdish Associations in Europe) has reached day 8.

Despite the cold weather hundreds of Kurds have joined in and the march is reported to stop in Basel where a meeting is planned.

People in the march hold KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) flags as well as the posters of Kurdish national leader Abdullah Ocalan and chanting slogans like “We are on the Road for Our Existence and Freedom!”

The Long March protests the prison conditions of Mr. Ocalan, who is recognized by millions of Kurds as their legitimate leader.

The long march for freedom started at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva and will end in Strasbourg on the 18 of February.
