URMIYE, — Nine people were executed in Urmiye prisons on Christmas Day by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to Mukrian News seven people named as Usef, Heyder, Mehdi, Qorbanali, Seyid, Siros and Nahid were hanged on the ground of drug dealing.
All the prisoners were hanged simultaneously and collectively in the prison yard of Urmiye prison located in the city of Urmiye.
Mr Mesood Shemsnejad, the lawyer of victims, has confirmed the news and stated that he should have been notified before the execution as stipulated by the Iranian constitution, however he was not.
Another two prisoners were hanged with same charge in Resht prison located in the city of Resht on 24th December.
Including these cases 577 people have been hanged by the Iranian Authorities since the beginning of 2011.
