DEFENCE REGIONS OF MEDYA, — The president of Kurdistan Democratic Confederation (KCK), Murad Karayilan said that “the current attitude of the Turkish establishment” forced the Kurds to look towards other ideas and proposals.
In an interview with Firat News Agency (ANF) Mr Karayilan remarked that the PKK is discussing and evaluating the situation. “The Kurdish people are not tied to Turkey,” Added Karayilan.
Karayilan denounced the attacks carried out against Kurds by the AKP government and underlined that the process born out of the Lausanne Treaty was wearing away. “The Kurdish people will also have a part in the re-shaping of the Middle East. They will be a main actor. None of the colonialist attack can prevent Kurds involvement. The future belongs to us”, noted Karayilan.
Karayilan also made significant statements about Deputy Prime Minister Beşir Atalay’s statements about the KCK operations, the raids targeting BDP municipalities, the clashes in Dicle and the alleged negotiations between the PKK and the state. On this latest point, alleged negotiations, the PKK executive ruled out any contact whatsoever at moment.
Answering to the question about a new unilateral ceasefire the PKK executive replied that “We will have to look at different possibilities, explore new ways now that Turkey, despite all our efforts, seems not ready to accept us, and living with us in peace, everyone with its own identity. As a movement and people, we are politically supposed to discuss and explore different alternatives and choices. What we need to discuss now, because it is the only discussion left, is how to solve the Kurdish issue”.
Karayilan further added that “a ceasefire and a solution could only come as a result of a common will for a solution”.
