Britain expels Iranian diplomats and closes embassy in Tehran

LONDON, — The British Foreign Minster William Hague ordered the expulsion of Iranian diplomats from the UK and announced that they will also close embassy in Tehran.

Mr Hague stated that the storming of the Embassy on Tuesday had the backing of the Iranian regime. “It would be fanciful to think that the embassy invasion could have taken place without some degree of regime consent,” said Hague.

He added that “If any country makes it impossible for us to operate on their soil they cannot expect to have a functioning embassy here.”

Hague said that Iranian diplomats would have to leave Britain within 48 hours, and all British embassy staff in Tehran had now left Iran.
