KIRMASHAN, East of Kurdistan, – Kurdish society of the University of Kirmashan express their grief with the people of Wan who were hit by an earthquake on 23rd October.
The Kurdish students of Kirmashan have submitted a letter to the Turkish ambassador in Iran asking for equality of opportunities in all regions of Turkey and especially at this time that Kurds have suffered an earthquake.
In the letter, Kurdish students have criticised the Turkish government as being careless and ignorant about people of Wan, because it is a Kurdish area.
“The earthquake caused even more deaths as many people under the rubbles were screaming for help but the help was hidden under ethnic discrimination and in the meanwhile the emergency relief form outside was turned down by the Turkish authorities,” the letter explained.
It continues that: “In addition to that the Turkish media were expressing their happiness regarding the earthquake and the killing of Kurds. Instead of sending necessities to the people, the Turks and the authorities sent Turkish flags”.
At the end of the letter Kurdish students hoped for equality of humans without divisions of ethnic, skin colour, religion and language.
