NEWSDESK, — In an interview to Rudaw newspaper, the president of Kurdistan Democratic Confederation (KCK) Murat Karayilan reassured that war between the PKK and Peshmerge forces would never happen.
He stated that the possibility of a new conflict among Kurds had been removed. “I have confidence in Kurdish politicians and their words in this regard” said Karayilan.
The KCK president remarked that Regional Kurdistan President Mesud Barzani is working for a peaceful solution to the problem in North Kurdistan and said thee consider these efforts as significant as they seek solution through politics and dialogue.
Indicating that Prime Minister Erdogan had refused the protocols presented by the Kurdish national leader Abdullah Ocalan, Karayilan noted that Mr. Barzani and some sides wanted re-initiation of a political process, after five years of negotiations conducted with the Turkish state through some friends in the first two years and directly in the following three years.
Talking about the ceasefire between PJAK and Iran, KCK Executive Council President Karayilan said that “Both sides continue to obey the ceasefire. This is a good situation appreciated by our side.”
Karayilan ended his speech by commenting on the Basque liberation organization ETA’s decision to permanently end armed struggle and said it was a “correct and positive decision”.
Karayilan underlined the positive attitude of the Spanish government in this regard and remarked that the PKK would “lay weapons down” if Turkey also recognized the rights of Kurds to self-governance.
