KERMAN, — According to the latest correspondence the Iranian prison officials of Kerman prison have secretively executed a Kurdish political prisoner named Eziz Xakzad in the morning time of October 4th.
Eziz Xakzade was hanged while his sentence had been reduced to five years. His family and his lawyer weren’t informed of the execution.
Human rights defenders’ news portal HRA, reports that the 29-year old Eziz Xakzade, who was arrested in 2007 and sentenced with death penalty by Xoy Revolutionary Court on the charges of “waging war against God” and “aiding a Kurdish political party”, was secretly hanged in Kerman central prison in the morning of October 4th.
Although, a superior court had reduced Xakzade’s sentence to five years and sent him from Selmas to Kerman prison. HRA noted that neither the family nor the lawyer of the prisoner was informed before the execution.
Additionally, 18 Kurdish political prisoners in Iranian prisons are still under execution threat; Zeyneb Celaliyan, Şêrko Mearifî, Hebîbûlla Letîfî, Samî Husênî, Cemal Mihemedî, Rustem Erkiya, Mistefa Selîmî, Enwer Rostemî, Îrec Mihemedî, Mihemed Emîn Agûşî, Ehmed Pûladxanî, Hesen Tale’î, Ezîz Mihemedizade, Hebibulla Gulperîpûr, Ebdûlah Sirurî, Reşîd Axkendî, Loqman Muradi ve Zanyar Muradi.
Including the execution of Xakzade, the number of Kurdish political prisoners executed by the Iranian regime since 2007 rose to 10.
