QENDIL, — The Press and Publication Centre of Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK) said in a statement that the Iranian forces had to retreat today after they suffered a heavy loss of 76 Revolution Guards and local mercenaries.
The statement reads as follow:
The Islamic Republic of Iran resumed its offensives yesterday 2nd September after a period of abeyance. Iran had gathered forces and heavy weaponries and made incursion into South Kurdistan aiming for the occupation of Defence Regions of Medya on yesterday. Within the framework of self-defence the HRK’s forces resisted to the Iranian invasion.
Yesterday at 10 am the Iranian forces tried to cross border from the mountains of Quteman located in the middle of Wezne and Zele planes. They were faced with the resistance of HRK (East Kurdistan forces) guerrillas and the fighting went on through the night.
Today at the morning, the Iranian Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) once against tried to cross the border. They once again had to retreat after they were responded with HRK guerrillas.
Their offensive was crashed and they suffered heavy losses. After they retreated, they started targeting the mountains by cannon mortar, tank, catyusha, and missiles.
As a result of the last two days’ clashes, 76 Revolution Guards and mercenaries have been killed including 3 mercenary’s chiefs named Mistefa Sersipi, and Abdullah. Among Iranian suffering there are also numbers of injured who have been taken by helicopter from the village of Altwan and transferred to hospitals in the neighbouring cities. Among the injured there is the head of Serdesht’s Intelligent Service.
Further details of these clashes in which numbers of military vehicles including a truck and a tank were destroyed will be published.
