SIRNAK, — Human shield groups have set off from Kurdish cities in the region to Sirnak to support the protest act of Peace Mothers Initiative who arrived the border point four days ago to stop the ongoing intensive air assaults and military operations in Federal Region of Kurdistan.
Upon the call made by women’s institutions to support the human shields, hundreds of people including BDP Istanbul MP Sebahat Tuncel, Batman MP Ayla Akat Ata, all regional mayors, municipal councillors and BDP administrators have taken the road to Sirnak.
The groups coming from Amed (Diyarbakir), Mardin, Batman and Siirt will gather in Nusaybin district of Mardin and go to the zero point of Sirnak where peace mothers are continuing their act for four days.
Making a press statement in front of the Batman Municipality building before the departure, woman demonstrators from Batman pointed out that the present conflict separates the Kurdish and Turkish people.
Batman City Women’s Council Member, reading the statement, said the followings; “Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who is trying to destroy Qendil with bombs should be aware that he is in fact bombing the hearts of mothers whom the Islam religion values and blesses. Mothers fighting for peace are ready to sacrifice even themselves to end this war. We will therefore go the operation-area as human shields and continue our act until these operations of destruction are ended. Either it will be a dignified war or we will die together with our children at mountains”.
