SOUTH KURDISTAN, — Iranian Revolution Guards’ sustained it offensives on the border regions and their casualty toll have been rising.
The Iranian Revolution Guards Corps infiltrated 2 km into the Iraqi border near Dole Koke and Zele in the early hours of 16 July but they were confronted with the Kurdish guerrillas of the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK).
According to our local correspondent the intense clashes continued until 18 July night. During the 3 days of clashes occurring in four different sites inside the Iraqi border and on the border line, up to 180 Iranian Revolution Guards have been killed, including 2 high rank commanders.
One of them has been named as Colonel Halit Sure. Many other Revolution Guards have been wounded. Also 7 PJAK guerrillas lost their life and 4 others were wounded.
PJAK’s Press and Communication Centre announced that they have taken hold of 9 corpses belonging to the Iranian Revolution Guards Corps.
According to eye witnesses in the cities of Urmiye, Piranshar and Serdesht in Iran, hospitals have been closed to civilians due to the high number of wounded among the Iranian Revolution Guards in three days of clashes.
Also, eyewitnesses say that there are soldiers speaking fluent Turkish within the Iranian Army deployed in the area.
As a result of intense mortar attacks launched by the Revolution Guards Corps the villages of Sinowa and Zele have been damaged. At least one woman has been wounded and a number of houses in the villages destroyed.
Today, the Iranian Army is continuing to bomb the areas of Suni, Ali Rese, Dole Koke, Sehit Ayhan, Sehit Harun and high mountains in surrounding areas Zele – KRG. In the meantime, the Iranian Army is deploying more troops in the Valley of Wesne on the other side of the border within Iran.
