AMED, — Heavy clashes broke out on Thursday afternoon between Turkish Army and the Kurdish guerrillas in Silvan, a district of Amed (Diyarbakir) and as a result 13 militaries were killed and 7 others wounded.
While the Kurdish side has been calling for peace and democratic solution the Turkish Army has continuously carried out military operations in Kurdistan. The persistence of Turkish state on war and violence resulted in the lives of 20 military personnel.
No casualty from the guerrillas has been reported.
This was the worst clash since the Kurdistan Worker Party (PKK) ended its ceasefire and adopted the position of active-defense meaning the guerrillas would attack if they were attacked.
